    Unanswered: ORA-27102: out of memory

    Hello *,

    While trying to create a database i am encountering the below problem after executing the sql command :
    " startup nomount pfile="%ORACLE_BASE%\admin\bwm\pfile\init.ora";

    ORA-27102: out of memory
    OSD-00026: Message 26 not found; product=RDBMS; facility=SOSD

    O/S-Error: (OS 1455) The paging file is too small for this operation to complete.

    The system is loaded with WinNT v4 sp6 OS with 256MB RAM and the current paging file size in the system is 260MB.

    In the init.ora the size mentioned for the below parameters is
    db_block_size=8192
    db_cache_size=268435456
    db_file_multiblock_read_count=16

    java_pool_size=0
    large_pool_size=8388608
    shared_pool_size=50331648

    Could you please help me in tackling this problem.

    Well your db_cache_size equals the total amount of RAM you have! Try reducing it to 10-20 MB if you cant increase the memory. Also increase your swap file size if you can. You are running at the minimum level of RAM for Oracle so I would strongly recommend increasing memory to atleast 512MB.
