    Unanswered: Alias

    Hi,
We are using DB2 UDB 8.1 on w2k

I had a question about alias

Lets say I have a SERVER DEV

On the DEV server we have two DATABASES A and B
    In Database A we have table A1, A2, A3...
In the database B we have tables B1, B2, B3...

My question is from Database B how can I access Tables A1,A2, A3....

There was a suggestion about using aliases.

I looked up the documentation and did not find enought info to aid me in that.

    Can you help?

    Thanks in anticipation.

    Re: Alias

You will have to use Federated Databases , ie , you refer tables in database B in database A using a nickname ...
    They are read only ..

If you intend to change data, then you should consider using 2-phase commit (not a federated approach)

Search this forum for the term 'federated' ... Use the same search term in the V8 information Centre
