Unanswered: failed to create ORACLE9i database

    Hello,
I need help with creating an Oracle9i database.
Here is the part of the alert.log in which the error started to show up. I checked the privileges, the directories are owned by oracle, groups is oinstall. The read, write and execute are: drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle oinstall 512 Jul 16 13:05 rdo. When i ran the statement again, I got the following error:

    CREATE DATABASE db05
    *
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed
    ORA-01100: database already mounted

How could the database be mounted if the create statement failed? What should I do? I deleted the redo log files? I am using "controlfile reuse in my createdb script? Is there anything I forgot to delete?

This is a part of the alert.log.

    DBCREATE script follows.
    Wed Jul 16 13:06:27 2003

startup sqlplus as the oracle owner, i.e. unix account oracle. Make sure your ORACLE_SID is set correctly... When asked for the user id and password enter a slash "/". This will connect you to the instance, then type "shutdown abort" and shutdown the instance.

When all else fails Read The Fine Manual Installation Guide found at
Search and Download Oracle Database, Application Server, and Collaboration Suite Documentation

In the future please post Operating System name and version along with Oracle version to 4 decimal places.
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
