    Unanswered: Port forwarding with Oracle

    Hi
I got a response from Bill about my earlier posting that TOAD on my PC couldnt find TNS listener on the oracle server sitting on linux.

The linux server is using ssh connections.

Bill suggested that it could be a case of Oracle port forwarding. I went through one document on the net. But it didnt help me much.

I was wondering if someone has actually used Oracle port forwarding in this case.

I would really appreciate a response in this regards.
    Thanx and Regards

    Hi Aruneesh,

If a firewall or port forwarding is the problem there are a number of docs about fixing it, but you need to be sure that this is the problem first.

Can you connect to dev on other machines? or on the server itself?

What are you typing to tnsping the instance? You should

    TNSPING <tnsname>
    and not TNSPING <ip/host>

    Hth

    TNSPing

the command I am using to tnsping the server is with the tnsname itself.

    tnsping xyz_abc.corp.com

It connects perfectly fine with the development server I have, but doesnt connect to the production live server.
