    Unanswered: new instance in the same pc

    I already have a instance in my PC, (i mean a SID in my tnsnames.ora). I want to create another one. How can i do it, sice I log into the sqlplus using the other intance name (SID name). maybe i'm wrong, and i can not create another instance in the same PC?. i'm just a beginner!

    the easiest way would be to use Oracle Database Assistant and have that create another instance for you. That comes with oracle and should have been installed on the Windows server you are referring to.

    Since you say you are new to all this I would not suggest to create the instance at command-line.

    Net 8 Assistant

    Hi
    In oracle client, go to networking administration, and look for Net8 Assistant.

    This would give you an option to create new instances, new listeners, new Oracle Name Servers.
