    Unanswered: Failover Option

For the servers running on windows platform, in the interfaces file I have given hafailover attribute.

For servers running on Windows , when I try to run isql with -Q option it does failover to the server specified.

    D:\>isql -Usa -SASE -P -Q
    CT-LIBRARY error:
ct_connect(): user api layer: internal Client Library error: HAFAILOVER: Trying to connect to ASE server.
    1> select @@servername
    2> go

    ------------------------------
    ASE_125

    (1 row affected)

but when I try to do the same with servers running on unix I get a message

    D:\>isql -Usa -SASE -P -Q
    CT-LIBRARY error:
ct_connect(): user api layer: internal Client Library error: HAFAILOVER: Trying to connect to ASE server.
    Msg 4002, Level 14, State 1:
    Server 'ASE125':
    Login failed.
    CT-LIBRARY error:
ct_connect(): protocol specific layer: external error: The attempt to connect to the server failed.

In the case 1, I was trying to connect ASE giving Failover to ASE_125 it connects, (ASE and ASE_125 on windows2000)

while in case 2, I was trying to connect to ASE giving failover to ASE125 it fails, (ASE on windows2000 and ASE125 on Unix)

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hiya,

This sort of errors happen in Active-Active, when primary instance is started by say "Sybase" user and the Secondary Companion instance is started using a super user.

    Cheers,

    Willy
