I am having difficulty with after update triggers on UDB 8.1 on AIX 5.2.
I have an OLTP system that has a series of tables that require a before and an after trigger on them. When I do updates on these tables without the triggers, performance is in the sub-millisecond range. If I add the before trigger, there is an neglible impact on the update (expected). But if I add the after trigger, performance drops to 25-50ms per update. I've tried eliminating all logic from the trigger (just declare a variable) and it still kills my updates. It appears that simply having an after trigger introduces something that seriously affects performance.
I've tried numerous configuration changes, combinations of the trigger (on row/on column), on and on...
Has anyone else hit something like this? Am I, perhaps, missing something in the configuration?
