Question Unanswered: Iis 6 - Ole Db - Asp (msdaora)

    Hello,

I'm trying to deploy an asp application which connect to an Oracle DB.
It Works fine on my dev machine and my production machine (both IIS 5).

Now I try to redeploy the same app. on windows 2003 and IIS 6.

I keep having this error message:
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle error '80004005'

Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation. Provider is unable to function until these components are installed.

    /neat/admin/login.asp, line 33
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
    (line 33: conn.Open "Provider=MSDAORA.1;Data Source=du9i;Persist Security Info=False",myuser,mypassword)

To add to the case, I tried to connect with a DSN, with the Oracle provider. Errors are a bit different but same problem.

I also tried to add more Web Service Extensions.. But may be not the right ones.

Also, I try to connect with SQLplus and With Excel (both installed on the server) and it works fine.

    Any idea?

    Hello JDS,

Can't say I know for sure, but I've seen similar problems here http://p2p.wrox.com/archive/oracle/2000-12/4.asp

    This just might help http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;255084

Hope it gets you on the right track at least...

    Thumbs up Solved

    Hi!

Thanks. The second link suggessed to reboot the server <b>after</b> the Oracle Client installation.. It was my problem. I had the impression I've rebooted, but I double-checked and saw I rebooted before the Oracle client installation!

To end properly and for future surch:

IIS6 was not the problem, there is nothing particular to do to make an OLEDB connection with IIS6 working.

    Other info:
I installed Tomcat with Apache under Windows 2003 as well as Tomcat IIS6 and so far, both are working fine.
