Question Unanswered: Sql server 2000 and win 2003 other problem.

I can install SQL Server 2000 on win 2003 trial version, but it will work only until I reboot the server. When I reboot I can't connect to the SQL server.

    Do I need sp3 or it's a different problem?

Did you use the correct user names and passwords? Are the services for the server started? If not one of these solved your problem, what is the error message you are getting?

I believe you do need SQL SP3 in order to run SQL 2000 on Win2003. I can't quite remember where on Microsoft's website I saw that, though.

Besides, with all of Microsoft's hype on how little Win2003 needs to be rebooted, you should be able to get along, right? ;-)

You must install SP3 for SQL 2000 when running under Win 2003.

I have no idea if it runs OK under an Win 2003 trial addition.

We are running it in an test/development system at work on
    Win 2003 server (?Enterprise Ed?).

The only problem I have had so far are network issue
( That I believe to be router hardware related.)
And the only SQL issue I have had is the following does not work.

    INSERT INTO #temptable EXEC('SELECT column from linkserver.db.own.table')

    The following did work.

    EXEC('INSERT INTO #temptable SELECT column from linkserver.db.own.table')
