Arrow Unanswered: UDUMP, BDUMP and CDUMP ???

I am going through the structure of the init.ora file in the $ORACLE_HOME/dbs/ directory.

In the file i see the following 3 parameters
    1. CDUMP = /u01/app/oracle/admin/dbname/cdump
    2. BDUMP = /u01/app/oracle/admin/dbname/bdump
    3. UDUMP = /u01/app/oracle/admin/dbname/udump

I wanted to know the purpose of the all the folders, and when and how they are used or accessed.

I would really appreciate the DBAs to throw some light on the same.

    Thanx and Regards

UDUMP is specifying the user dump directory where all user error logs (trace files) will be placed.

BDUMP is specifying the background dump directory where all database error logs (trace files) will be placed.

CDUMP is specifying the core dump directory where all OS error logs (core dump files) will be placed.
