    Question Unanswered: MySQL and JBuilder

    Hi!

I want to use mysql in JBuilder, but i've problems to connect to the database. I want to use a data express object (database). on setting the properties for connection i get the following error:

com.borland.dx.dataset.DataSetException: The driver: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver could not be loaded. This could be a problem with the driver itself, or that the driver is not found on the classpath.

I've downloaded the driver from www.mysql.com and put it to the classpath (...jar file)

    my driver settings are:
    com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

    my URL:
    jdbc:mysql://

I don't know how to make the settings for the url

i've made a mysql database on the console. which extension has such a database?

    hope anyone can help me!

    thanx

    Re: MySQL and JBuilder

    I use :
    MySQL Connector/J 3.0.7 Stable (formerly MM.MySQL)
MySQL AB's JDBC Driver for MySQL

for my driver the url looks like:

    jdbc:mysql://localhost/db

localhost is the name or IP of the computer where the mysql server is (127.0.0.1 is localhost)

    db is your database alias!

the path to my driver is:
    org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
and the class is located in:
    mysql-connector-java-3.0.7-stable-bin.jar
put your driver jar in your classpath!

    try to read mysql\Docs\manual.html
or use MySql Front or SQLyog to help you administrate the database visually.

I have gotten a simple program that makes a connection to mysql via the 3.0.8stable driver, and it compiles and runs in JBuilder8,
BUT, I cant get the Database Pilot tool to be able to load the driver.

Have you (or anyone) been able to get the this tool (Database Pilot) to connect to a mysql database?
What did you do to configure it properly?

I found the answer in another forum...here it is cut/pasted...

Found The Solution coppied the mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar -file into jbuilders lib directory (youcan place it anywhere U like) In Jbuilder Tools> Enterprise Setup select Database Drivers Add... ->new... unter Library paths click add.. and select the mysql-connector-java-2.0.14-bin.jar and you're set (you can use the database pilot to test it)
