Oracle 8.1.5.

I use RMAN to make backup of my databases.
I have a disk space problem : the disk i use for rman backups is full at 97% in spite of the fact that i clean RMAN Catalog daily. The problem is that the database files were grown up.

My question : is there any parameter to use with RMAN and tell him to compress backup files when he do backups and at the same time he would be able to recognise them in case of a recovery.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Thanks in advice.
