    Unanswered: resizing procedure cache

    Hai,

When I tried to generate database objects DDL, I'm getting the error
    like,
" There is not enough procedure cache to run this procedure, trigger or sql batch. Retry later, or ask your SA to reconfigure SQL server with more procedure cache".

Let me know how to increase the procedure cache. I'm using sybase ASE 11.5.

    thanx in advance,
    Niranjan.

Login as sa or a user sa_role and perform the following

exec sp_configure 'procedure cache percent', 30
    go
    shutdown
    go

Start the ASE again and the procedure cache should now be 30% of the available memory after ASE starts and has allocated memory to the named caches.

By default on ASE < 12.5 the procedure cache is 20% of the remaining memory. Increasing the size of the procedure cache will decrease the size of the default data cache. Becareful as it may have an effect on overall server performance.
