Unanswered: trigger an event on a particular date

    hi,
In my application i would like to execute a stored procedure or what may be a simple DML statement....when a certaint condition is satisfied .But the condition is not a user event.

    if with_effect_date = somedate
then the execution should take place. This condition would be defined in the system by the user.
But the system should automatically detect if the condition is saisfied on the specified with_effect_date and execute it.

The user can define the with_effect_date to be a date one year from hence. The system on that day should automatically match the value and execute the statement.

    Is it possible through PL/SQL...

    Pls help.

    Regards
    Kaushik

You could schedule a procedure (daily) that checks the date against your test condition. You could then call the other procedure if your test condition is passed otherwise do nothing.

Use the DBMS_JOB package to schedule that procedure.
