Question Unanswered: How can I calculate the memory usage of my DB2 on AIX

    Hello DB2-Gurus,

at present on our warehouse (AIX System with DB2) we have
huge memory problems. The usage of the system memory is always
100 % on top. Now i want to find out how much memory is actually used from db2.

    1. Which is the best way to find out ? Do you know helpful tools ?

    2. Before i change DB2 parameter who affect the system memory, can
i calculate the memory effect ? Do you know any calculation sheets
    or tools?

    Here are the System facts:

    DB2 Version: v7.1.0.75, s021110 EEE
    AIX Version: 4.3
    System Memory: 48 GB
    DB2 Nodes: 11
    DB Size: 4 Terrabyte

Thank you for your help !

    Best Regards
    Leon

Re: How can I calculate the memory usage of my DB2 on AIX

I have not come across a cheat-sheet sort of doc to calculate db2 memory ...

The 'biggest' user of memory on a db2 system is Bufferpools ... The next big is the sortheaps on DW system ...

For further details, look at the Chapter 8 in Performance Guide ... You have all memory related performace parms listed pictorially ... You should be able to add them up to get a rough estimate of the memory used by db2 ...
