    Unanswered: Query on SQL DDL

    Hi,

    I just came across this SQL

    CREATE TABLE EBRINQUIRY (
    INQ_AGN DECIMAL(11) NOT NULL GENERATED ALWAYS
    AS IDENTITY(
    START WITH 1,
    INCREMENT BY 1,
    NO CACHE ,
    NO CYCLE ),
    BORWR_AGN DECIMAL(11),
    DUNS_NBR DECIMAL(11),
    SUBR_NBR INTEGER NOT NULL,
    USER_ID INTEGER NOT NULL
    );

    Cud any one pls explain me what is the significance of NO CACHE and NO CYCLE in the above DDL ?
    Thanks

    INQ_AGN is an identity column (i.e. serial datatype).

    It won't cycle, so it won't go back to 1 once it has reached its max value.

    And, it isn't cached so its current value will always have to be retrieved from the database.
