    Cool Unanswered: Coverting Text To a Date format

    I need some major help. I am a newbie at Access and well I need HELP!!!
    Here's what I got. I have a text file that is space delimineted. I have imported the complete file. However the Date import is in yyyymmdd order but in a text field. If I try to convert the frield to date/time it deletes the data and gives a error report. How do I convert the Field to date/time with out it deleting the data? Remember i'm a newbie so I need step by step help.

    Thanks

    Try this;
    Date: CDate(Left([MYFIELD],2) & "/" & Mid([MYFIELD],3,2) & "/" & Right([MYFIELD],2))

    Sorry forgot to mention,

    Insert another column in your query and paste:

    Birthdate:CDate(Left([birthdate],2) & "/" & Mid([birthdate],3,2) & "/" & Right([birthdate],2))
