Unanswered: Monitoring Oracle Database and Listener...

    Hi,

I'm currently running Oracle8 database on one of the DELL PowerEdge servers on Linux platform.

I would want to monitor the database so that I could get an email message as the database goes down or the Oracle listener goes down.

Right now I dont have anything set up so that I could be sent an alert as to when the database went down or the TNS Listener stopped working.

Would anybody be able to suggest me on this ???

    Thanks,

    - Bikram.

    Cool For your reference

You can create a crontab job running regularly to check Alert<SID>.log and listener.log file for error messages and send a e-mail to you if an expected error is detected.
