    Unanswered: query with case sensitivity

    Hi,

Is db2e case sensitive as default?

I wonder whether there is any function that I can switch this mode between case
sensitive search and no case sensitive search?

    Thanks.

    Re: query with case sensitivity

I don't think you can do this ...

    Use UCASE(colname) , for eg : where ucase(col1)='XGAMEN' ..

Remember, when using a function on a column, db2 will not be able to use the index on the column ... You can work around this by using a generated column (ask if you want more details)

The CODEPAGE and/or COLLATING SEQUNCE of the database determine the case-sensitity ....

    Re: Thanks.

Yes. It is not supported at all.

Actually, you may think about DB2 Universal. I was meant to ask about DB2e that is DB2 Everyplace for mobile.

Currently, UCASE() is not supported in DB2e.

And, I don't know when they are going to release for next version. Db2e 8.2 that I am waiting for badly..

    Thanks anyway..
