    Unanswered: SQL Mail Setup

I am running SQL 7.0 on Windows 2000 server. I am trying to setup SQL Mail. I have installed Outlook and configured profile. I logged in as the same user under whom the SQL service is running. I am able to send message from Outlook using the profile. From the SQL Mail setup, (Enterprise Manager -> Support Services -> SQL Mail) selected the profile and clicked Test. It came up with a message "Successfully started". When I try to execute the following command "master.dbo.xp_sendmail @recipients = 'recep1', @subject = 'test'" it just shows "executing batch command" and does not work. I am unable to stop MS SQL service at this point of time and I need to reboot... Your response is greatly appreciated.
