at the same time I want to store the value of sequence number into one more table. for this one i am creating procedure for inserting data into table and selecting the column(sequence column ) data into variable a.

but the thing is My procedure could be called by 100000+members frequently.SO sequence.nextval could not give the exact result. What should i do?

    DSS/BI

    Hi..
Can anyone pls help us in identifying the correlation b/w DSS & BI(Business Intelligence).. From the information tht i've gathered i have inferred that DSS emerged as a BI tool and later on as the scope of BI widened, DSS became a part of BI..

Please give ur opinion on this..
    Thanks

As regards the original question why not insert the sequence value into both tables from the same proc. Your first insert statement can return the value of the sequence (see returning clause) into a variable which you can then insert into the second table.
