Unanswered: Type 4 JDBC Driver Support in DB2 7.2

I'm using DB2 7.2 with FixPak 8. I'm using db2jcc.jar file in the classpath to connect to DB2 and execute the query using jdbc statements. It is working well when used with DB2 8.1. In 72 it connects to the database but fails to execute statement.executeQuery(SQL select) with error com.ibm.db2.jcc.c.SQLException: DB2 SQL error: SQLCODE: -805, SQLSTATE: 51002, SQLERRMC: NULLID.SYSSH200.
What is that I'm missing in 7.2 DB2 database? Is there updation required for the 7.2 DB2 to enable to allow such client connection executions. I also tried doing the bind commands in vain.
I'm using the class com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver here.

If this doesn't work then from where can I get DB2 type 4 jdbc driver to connect to DB 7.2 and work?

    Thanks,
    Gopal

AFAIK, db2jcc driver works only with V8

    Cheers

Well, I have never used one ...

I know HitSW provides one for db2 ... It comes at a cost ...

There are also a few other players in the market ...

An alternative is to consider using Type 3 driver (net driver) for Db2 v7.2

    Hi Gopal,

    forget everything told before.

If you want to connect to a server database, maybe 6.x, 7.x with
db2jcc.jar and you'll get NULLID.SYSSH200 error just do the following:

    1.) use the program c:\sqllib\bin\db2jdbcbind.exe
    example:
db2jdbcbind.exe -url jdbc:db2://servername:port/dbname -user xxx -password yyy

2.) if you do not have this program, just execute the following:

java com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Binder -classpath .;db2jcc.jar;%CLASSPATH% -url jdbc:... -user xxx -password yyy

All the necessary bind files will be bound to your destination database.

    NOW IT SHOULD WORK.
