    Question Unanswered: configuring DB sybase12.5

    I start to configuring Sybase12.5/Linux and I have 30 DB(capacity 1G each).
I like to have a very good performance becouse the aplication it's online (internet) .
    My question is:
If it's a good ideea to configuring for each DB :
    -DataDevice_01
    -LogDevice_01
    and
    -DBCache_01 (50M)

or it's good to have a large Data,Log and Cache and create a group DB??

    Thank you,
    Sorina

    Hello,

I think its better to keep devices seperate for each DB...for better recovery and better performance .

Its definately better to seperate data and log DB devices. But in terms of cache you should consider how the databases are going to be used. For instance if the databases are all going to be used at the same time then split the cache equally. But a more likely scenario is some databases will get a lot more use than others. If this happens you would be wasting the cache allocated to the less used databases. Hence you should perhaps try and have a large default data cache and then allocate some extra Named Cache to those databases that get the most use.
