    Question Unanswered: SQL CALs

How does the Server plus client access license work ?

I have an product that has 1 SQL Server with multiple applications connecting to it (occasionally connecting and disconnecting). Customers buy their own software and SQL licenses.

If a single user makes multiple connections to a SQL Server database (from one or more workstations), how many Client Access Licenses will be needed (assuming server plus user CAL licenses)?

Does the server plus device CAL license model work similarly (if multiple applications/users connect to the server from one device)?

one CAL or more CALs ?

Yes, I read the Microsoft literature, which says that they sell user or device CALS. What if I have 10 applications connecting to an SQL Server with 1 user on 3 different devices? Do I need one, 3 or 10 user CALs??

I may be wrong, but I think that device + CAL means that each workstation has to have a license to make a connection to a server. I don't think it's limited to the number of connections per device.
