    Question Unanswered: Sqlmail vs Outlook

    Does Outlook have to be active for SQLmail to send mails.

    My setup is. MS2K Server and SQL2000.

    Hope someone can help me.

    What do you mean active? FOr standard SQL Mail you do want to have it installed on the SQL Server,you do not have to have it open.

    There is another program out there developed by Gert Drapers that you do not have to use outlook, that is located here http://www.sqldev.net/xp/xpsmtp.htm

    My sqlserver have the qoulook installed, but when the sqlserver fails in replications i couldn't get a mail from sqlmail unless outlook is running.
