    Question Unanswered: sql 2000 trace

    someone knows how to make partial savings in a file for the trace (sp_create_trace)????

    because i saw that if you use the profiler, the events are saved as soon as they ocurrs, but if you create a trace in the query analyzer the file is not saved until you close and delete the trace or until it reaches the maximun file size.

    i'm using it as an audit so i don't wanna lose the events if the server suddenly shutdowns..

    thanks SOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!

    I think it's ::fn_trace_gettable.

    i made that but i have the problem that the file is still open and shows me and error....

    Server: Msg 567, Level 16, State 5, Line 1
    File 'file name' either does not exist or is not a recognizable trace file. Or there was an error opening the file.

    thanks

    If you're using audits for security purposes, email me off-line and I can send you the entire set of scripts that do exactly that. It'll have a readme file that will explain what to do and when to do it.
