Unanswered: How to interconnect to Oracle from DB2

    Hello,
We need to develop some solution for our company to comunicate our db2 - as/400 based systems to new Oracle dbs.

We saw there are products like:
    -DB2 Information Integration from IBM
-Access Manager for AS/400 from Oracle

to accomplish that, but they are very expensive...
Somebody knows a lower cost option, some third party product to do the same thing?

Any comment will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance.

I think Oracle has something called a transparent gateway that allows connections to DB2. Not sure of the cost of implementation difficulty.

    Oh, ok, thank you.
Yes, you are rigth, the Access Manager is a module of the transparent gateway, but it's really expensive.

    Thank you!

How often is data exchange required ? Real time or Periodic ? If the latter I would be inclined to investigate the use of DB2Loader and SQL*Loader I seem to remember they have numerous compatibilities for data exchange.

You didn't mention what platform you Oracle is running on.
How is your data is organized/normalized?

Here is a thought though....if you can find some way for an MS Access DB to make calls to your DB2 through ODBC, then copy the data into Access or just make pass through querys from the DB2 to the Oracle using ODBC calls. Not super effecient, but relatively cheap.
