Re: High water mark for connections,Application connects.

HWM for connections : The maximum number of applications that have been active at any given instant of time since the database was activated ...

Application Connects : The number of times applicatios tried to connect to a database ...

For example, activate a database and do a connect .... Your HWM should be 1 and app connects should be 1

Terminate the application .... Then connect again ... Your HWM will be 1 and application connects will be 2 ...

Connect to the database from another window .... Your HWM will be 2 and application connects will be 3 ...

these monitor elements can be used to decide on maxagents, maxcagents etc ...

    Re: HWM & LIST APPLICATINS

    Hi,

I have one more puzzle to be resolved.

    My database snapshot shows
    High Watermark for connections =74

But , "db2 list applications" shows a list of 17 applications only. Please explain how these 2 things are different from each other.
    Thanks,
    mc

"db2 list applications" shows the number of applications currently connected.

The HWM tells you the maximum number that have been connected at any time in the past since the database was created, not just those currently connected.

Are you then saying that the HWM is persistent across stops, or did you really mean activated instead of created?
