Unhappy Unanswered: Unable to connect to SQL 2000 server

    Hi,

    I'm getting the error...

Unable to connect to server xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:

    Server: Msg 17, Level 16, State 1
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][TCP/IP Sockets]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

... when I try to connect to one of my remote servers running SQL Server 2000 on Windows 2000 Advanced Server on a sub net. I even tried to add the server details in the Client network utility and swap "Network Libraries" to be TCP/IP and Named Pipes. Still didnt work!!

However I was able to connect to the same server from a different system on the local network of the server using Named Pipes but not TCP/IP libraries in the Client Network utility.

Your help and inputs in solving the problem are appreciated. Thank you.
