Talking Unanswered: What is the efficient way to compare tables?

    Hi Guys,

I have Server A user X and Server B user X. How do i compare the table structures between the two are similar?

Is it by comparing the system tables which stores the table structures good enough?

    Any suggestion is appreciated.

    Hi,

Possibly yes, it depends on how exact the comparisons should be. You might want to ensure the constraints are the same, the triggers and trigger code. If any triggers call PL/SQL packages etc then you'll need to compare them as well.

It really depends on how exact the match needs to be.

There a many schema comparison tools around, do a google for 'Oracle schema compare' and you should find something.

Download TOAD aka Tool for Oracle Developers, from www.quest.com.
A free trial download is available at the site

It has a compare schema feature on the Main Menu DBA -> Compare Schemas.

    Good luck
