    Unanswered: query regarding sql*plus commands

    we have something like PROMPT ,REM and ROLLBACK SEGMENT in oracle.Is there anything similar to these commands IN DB2(IBM DB2UDB).

    Hi Venu,

    There's no such command like Oracle's PROMPT in DB2 Command Editor, as far as I know.

    Regarding REM, you could use "--".
    Example:
    -- This is a comment line

    Now regarding ROLLBACK SEGMENTs
    Before DB2 v9.7, DB2 was slightly different from Oracle in terms of concurrency. If you wanted DB2 to behave almost like Oracle by then, you would need to use UNCOMMITED READ isolation level - but you would have the risk of Dirty Reads. Now with v9.7, DB2 will show you the last commited version of data, with the same effect as Oracle does with ROLLBACK SEGMENTs.

    DB2 9.7 will be offering SQL*Plus compatibilty. However, that does not mean that all Oracle commands that might be issued via SQL*Plus will be valid. Just the shell commands.
