Angry Unanswered: Problem installing 9iAS Infrastructure

We are trying to install Oracle 9ias Infrastructure. Nothing else has be installed on this machine. The install finishes and begins the necessary configurations of components. During the configuration of OID we get the error " could not contact OID server". Before the configuration of OID a 9iAS database is succesfully configured. What is the problem with OID??? This also cause some of the other components to fail (SSO, etc.)
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Greg

    Unhappy

No OS specified nor OS version. :-(
No actual Oracle error # provided. :-(
I've successfully installed 9iAS R2 Infrastructure a dozen times or more on Solaris, so I can confirm it is possible.
FWIW - You are to start OUI with absolutely ZERO environmental variables defined for anything closely related to Oracle

Thanks for your reply. Removing the environment variables fix the prob. Install was successful (solaris 2.8).

Obviously you neglected to RTFM before starting the installation,
because the Fine Manual clearly states that the enviromental
variables should be not set. Of course, inquiring minds would
like to know why OUI simply does not unset the offending
variables before it starts its processing; but at least this known
limiation is clearly documented for those who care to actually
prepare & plan BEFORE starting to install software.

Your smart a@# comment was unnecessary. Forums like this are to provide help to people not to make loosers like yourself feel as if they are better or smarter than others. Crawl back into you cave and finish popping your zits.

I would suggest anacedent goto dbasupport.com.
They seem to have a good amount of smarty-pantsies at those forums.

It is a great resource for information, but man do they like to make people feel small.

With free advice, you get what you paid for it.

AFAIK, I did provide assistance & for that I got cursed.

I wish you the best of luck, because I suspect that your problems are only beginng in trying to make 9iAS R2 operational simply by using
a mouse to point & click & all the pretty GUIs which Oracle provides.
FWIW - It is realy easy to confuse 9iAS R2 to the point where the
only recourse is to re-install. Hopefully you've at least taken notes
and won't have to post here again to get it cleanly installed again.

Next time I'll refrain from providing an answer &
let you solve the problems of your own making.

    When all else fails, RTFM.

    Have A Nice Day!
