ASE vs SQL Server
the thing is that SQL Server was a licensed Sybase for many versions until Microsoft wrote an own engine which is also dervied from Sybase in many ways. As we use both of them on similar tasks, I can tell you that there is almost no noticable difference between them.
The only thing is that Sybase runs on many platforms, SQL Server only on MS platform. Pricing is different too I think. Administration is the same level of difficulty, but this is my personal opinion.
