    In ORACLE, A table cannot contain more than one LONG column. why is it so

    LONG columns are stored in separate segments to the table they are in and are pretty unwieldy to manipulate.

    In any case, LONG columns are only provided now for backwards compatibility. Oracle recommends using CLOB columns instead.
