    Unanswered: Transefering Data from MSSQL to ORACLE

    I have to write an script to transfer my data from MSSQL database to Oracle database.
    basically i am planning to read the data from all the tables of MSSQL database and generate a list of insert statements in oracle syntex which i can later run on oracle server..

    i am stucked while writing such a script...
    any help would be appreciated.

    yes but heterogenous services are free

    Download as flat files your tables,
    Then use SQLLOADER or any free tools to reload.

    MSSQL to Oracle

    u can do it unsing a mssql dts to copy your tables to your oracle tables directly using oracle oledb provider (faster).

    i have done this before at work and everything goes fine, just take a look at your rollback segments / undo tablespaces before you start your job.

    If the source of data is MSSQL DTS (Data transformation Service) of the MSSQL is a better option.

    It gives lot of handly options for mapping columns and filtering etc,...
