Cool Unanswered: Installation of DB2 in Solaris8

I try to install DB2v8.1 in sunos5.8. It seems the installation(using db2setup ) is go through except the instance creation failure occurs when it try to create instances. The error message is shown below,

    Command to be run: "/opt/IBM/db2/V8.1/instance/db2icrt -a SERVER -s ese -u db2fenc1 -w 32 -p db2c_db2inst1 db2inst1".
ERROR:An error occurred while creating the instance "db2inst1". The return code
is "1". Create the instance manually using the command 'db2icrt'.

ERRORBI1281E The database manager configuration file could not be
    initialized.

Anbody can advise how to resolve this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    muthu

I would try to create the instance manually using the command 'db2icrt'.

Have you modified Kernal parameters prior to install DB2 ? You have to modify kernal parameters on sun as per db2 install document.

Is there any logs created that tells more about errors ?

I modified around 12 parameters in /etc/system file as per db2 recomendation. When I installed without creating instance option then everything is fine. But when I try to create instance I got an error as mentioned in my previous mail.

Have you reboot your server after modifying /etc/system file ? Changes in kernal parameters effects only after reboot.
