    Question Unanswered: Oracle Forms Error

    Hi,

I Have an text Item in Oracle Forms. Its datatype is Number Datatype. If i enter numbers it stores the values in the table.

If i enter characters it says the Follwoing Error. How to write a function in When-Validate-Item Trigger for that Item.

    FRM-50016: Illegal Characters not allowed

    Thanks,

Don't use that event. Simply trap on that error at the "form-level"
on-error trigger and put your own message or, simply, NULL.

For examples, use your on-line help and in the index enter,
ON-ERROR. You'll be given at least one example to provide the
    necessary syntax.

How to do the same check by means of a function in When Validate Item Trigger. That is having a function to check for item values in When Validate item Trigger
