    Unanswered: oracle 8.1.7.4 patch install

    Hello All

I am trying to install path 8.1.7.4 to my current oracle 8.1.7 version on SUN SPARC

I dont have "runInstaller" in my installed directory so I am trying run it from CD directly, but i get a null pointer exception whihc looks like following

Initializing Java Virtual Machine from /tmp/OraInstall/jre/bin/jre. Please wait...
    Exception java.lang.NullPointerException occurred..
    java.lang.NullPointerException

    at oracle.sysman.oii.oiif.oiifm.OiifmMainFrame.<init> (Compiled Code)
    at oracle.sysman.oii.oiic.OiicInstaller.<init>(Compil ed Code)
    at oracle.sysman.oii.oiic.OiicInstaller.main(Compiled Code)

Kindly help me out figuring how to get rid of it

    Thanx

    Aj

I suspect that the DISPLAY environmental variable is not set to a valid X-Server.
