    Question Unanswered: Oracle 9i Forms

    Can we update a row in two different database having a table of same sturcture , using oracle forms . when ever there is an update in a table one database same needs to reflected on other .., and these database are on differnt machines.

    for some reasons we aren't allowed to use db links , please let me know hoe can it be achieved using oracle forms application.

    I would suggest that work like this should not be done through Forms, but I guess that your dba's or whatever have herded you into finding a Forms solution.

    Can you ask them what technical reason there is for not allowing any DbLinks? Once they've answered this, maybe you could ask them about replication.

    Please post their replies here, I've heard many reasons, but always looking for new ones :-)

    The only valid reason I have come across for DBA's refusing a DbLink, is when developers want to duplicate live work onto a dev server so as to save dev refreshes, and DBA's quite rightly refusing to allow such Links.
