    Unanswered: 32bit / 64bit

    Hi,

    **** IDS 7.31.UD6 / IDS 7.31.FD6 *****

Are there any changes in the Informix code between a 32bit and a
64bit release of the some database version ?

I am upgrading to a AIX 5.1 64bit platform and would like to make sure
that the 64bit version is functionally the same as the 32bit version.

    Regards

    Hi,

The advisable thing, if the time and the space it allows it, to do
export and import of the base.
    Or execute update statistics full.
And if these using programs 4GL and you connect via ipcshm, then
    change to ipcstr (stream-pipe).
Programs 4GL cannot connect to the motor via shm.

    Hi Jurie,
    The functionality is the same!
There could be some GUIs missing depending on the platform.
    Please check the release notes!
Or tell me which version are you upgrading.

    Thanks Sandor,

Informix has also confirmed that there are no change to the code and
that it is just recompiled for 64bit
I will check the release notes !

We found functionality to be the same but the memory consuption went WAY up. Be prepared to bump up your shared memory allocation or watch your instance go to multiple segments.
