    Unanswered: email hyperlinks

    I have two hyperlink fields in my database. One is for web addresses. This one works fine. The other is for email addresses. This field only works as a hyperlink to open our email handler if I specify it in each record. Is there a way to default only this field to the "mailto:" tag? Thanks for any help.

    If the db is on a server (eg windows 2000) you can use CDONTS.

    Look this:

    Re: email hyperlinks

    Private Sub YourTextBox_Click()
    On Error Resume Next
    DoCmd.SendObject , , , YourTextBox, "CC", "BCC", "Subj", "Body", True
    End Sub

    That will open your default email program whether you have an email address in it or not. If an address exists, it will be displayed in the To field.

    "CC", "BCC", "Subj", "Body" are optional, but you need to keep the comma.

    The trailing True says that you have to send the message manually. If False, message is sent (almost) transparently.

    But the field should be Text, not Hyperlink...
