Unanswered: Updating DB2 instance to 64-bit (DB2 v8 FP2 on AIX 5L)
I have been trying to find a comprehensive document that lists all the issues involved and pros/cons of updating DB2 instance from 32-bit to 64-bit. I have found a document for version 7.2 and there are some things in there that would prevent us from going to 64-bit (JDBC support, Connectivity issues, Monitoring tools, etc...).
I have been getting information in bits and pieces that suggests that most of these have been fixed in Version 8, but nothing that categorically says what works and what doesn't and what are the steps involved (application dev issues included). Any help in this matter will be appreciated.
We are running DB2 v8 FP2 on AIX 5L and Java applications running within Websphere 5.0 are accessing the databases using JDBC 2.0 API. Thanks in advance for your prompt response.
