Unanswered: Source Table Filter - MS Analysis Services

I am using the folloiwng to create my OLAP cube:

    1) SQL Server 2000 - database
    2) Analysis Services to model/create cube.

I am trying to set a filter for fetching desired records.

    Source Table Filter = "Tablename"."FieldName" = Value.

I see the fact table size correctly - I mean the filter is being used. But the cubes contains all the records in the database.

Note: I am using a table as a fact as well as dimensions tables. Is that the problem?

Sort of, as it sounds like you know they don't recommend storing it in that manner in a warehouse (or mart). You can create a cube from a SQL view though and that may be the way to go, just make sure you don't miss any information as you are using a multi-dimensional tool to access a two-dimensional table, if you test the view and it gives you what you want it should be fine.

I used the same OLTP design for Cognos environment. It works just fine. I am doing a research on Analysis services using the same OLTP. Want to check out the functionality/performance/Ease of use etc.
