i'm bylding a database for my movie collection
and want to make a form (yes no ) that shows the result in a new form
example sound , i can choose out of different options like 5.1 6.1 dts etc
if i choose one or more the result will show in the new form as tekst
there is a simple way to do this, but it is not entirely satisfactory.
in your table design mode, on a new row:
select data-type = lookup
-i will type in the values that i want
and start typing:
-when done, change the data-type to number(integer)
-the lookup tab at the bottom should show
rowsourcetype: value list
rowsource: 1;"5.1";2;"DTS" and so on
columnwidths: 0cm; 2cm
your table will now store 1, 2, 3 etc, but display (and let you select from) "5.1", "DTS"
this is not entirely satisfactory because it is difficult to add a new choice.
a better route is to make a table tblSoundTypes having
soundID: autonumber, primary key
in your main table, select datatype: Lookup but this time lookup the values in tblSoundTypes; soundDesc (hide key column)
adding new choices is now a simple matter of adding a record to tblSoundTypes.
