    Unanswered: Go to a new Form

    Hi,

    I am using access as a front end and backend for an application.There are few things i need assistance:

    1.I have a form with a few text fields which is used for adding new users.
    after adding a user i want all the controls to get cleared.

    2.I would like to now how will go to another form when u want to go to another form.I am using the visible property to false and visible=true for the form i need to show.I know this is not the correct method,but cannot figure out the correct one.

    3.How can i use a timer object as in VB.I need a label to be show for 10sec ,i also need a form to go to another form after after showing a label for 10sec.

    I would like to get some hel on these .Thanks in advance.

    hi mickykt,

    1. clearing the controls (but only in an unbound form or you clear the record at the same time!):
    thisControl.value = null
    ...etc

    2. "correct" depends on what you are trying to do!
    .visible = true/false is perfectly valid and sometimes necessary (e.g. when you want to keep the .values while the user goes off to do something in another form). you can also popup/modal a form so the user is stuck on the popup until it's closed and cannot access another form behind.
    one alternative is:
    private sub closeMeAndOpenAnotherForm()
    docmd.close acform, "nameOfTheForm"
    docmd.openform "nameOfAnotherform"
    end sub

    3. ugh!!!
    your poor user will get extremely annoyed with this 10 seconds wait.
    instead, consider:
    msgbox "Nothing is going to happen until you click OK", vbokonly, "Pause"

    Hi,
    that was really cool,thankx for ur quick response.

    I wanted to know if there was any method to clear all the controls of a form in one step as Form.clear or something like that.

    The information about docmd.close was really good,thankx.

    I also wanted to know if i could make a menu bar as in vb.

    I wanted the time to show : for example if a click updating i need a label to show that the data is being updated as "Data Updating ......" for a few seconds.

    Anyway thankx again for ur help.
