    method pushButton(var eventInfo Event)
    Locatepattern("Vendor Name", Searchfield.Value +"..")

This is a simple method. It is case sensitive and requires that the entered string be accurate. But it is the core of a search.
You create a textfield, this one is named Searchfield, not associated with a database field.
    Create a pushbutton.

To the pushbutton method attach the single statement. The ".." at the end tells it to look for the text at the begining of the table field. (i.e. Smit will find Smith or Smithson). You can add statements to make the search case insensitive. you can also add a second button or create a program which toggles the button response to add a locatenext search which will continue the search if the first instance is not what you are looking for.
