Unanswered: How to connect to remote sqlserver correctly ?
There are 3 sqlservers: localserver(local server), SQL2000(in th same domain) and SQLSERVER7(a remote sqlserver ,not in the same domain, ip:192.168.1.1), all are successfully registered in the sqlserver group of microsoft management console.
I want to connect to SQLSERVER7(the remote sqlserver) with following sql:
'Data Source=192.168.1.1;User ID=sa;Password=pass'
if run from Query Analyzer of local server , it return correct result, however , if run from Query Analyzer of SQL2000 , the result is "General network error. Check your network documentation".
Who can tell me why ? In fact , I hope to connect SQL2000 and SQLSERVER7
