Has anybody had success running a large Oracle DB on Windows servers? A discussion with a local Oracle DBA turned up anecdotal evidence that response times for an Oracle load could be hours in this environment with a 700 GB database. Our database might be up to several terabytes in size, depending on how many pay periods worth of data we want to keep for 25000 employees. If anybody has had success with this for a production application (not a vendor benchmark result) I'd be interested in knowing how your environment was set up:
eg. size of DB, how many CPU's and processors on each CPU, speed of CPU's, memory on CPU, whether a special Oracle option was used such as RAC or Oracle Partitioning Options, if a special computer was used like a NUMA one, etc.
