    Unanswered: reorg tool

    Hi ,

For version db2 7.2 , is there any utility/tool available to reorg tables without bringing the system down, I mean without having applications disconnected from the database.

    Thanks

    Re: reorg tool

Not possible as far as I am aware ...

But, you do not need to bring down the system when doing a REORG .. Your table will be locked and will not be allowed access by the applications ... Yes, of course, if you are REORGing a crtical table, virtually the system may be down

    Re: reorg tool

An option to 'REORG' a table may be by exporting and importing/loading it back to the table .... There will be a short downtime here but it will be shorter than the REORG ..

The flip side is that if you have referential constrains dependent on the table, you may not be able Replace the data ...

Is the online reorg issue not dealt with in version 8?
