Red face Unanswered: Server msg 7391 while trying to update linked server via trigger...

I created a trigger on the SQL Server 2000 and want to update a linked Oracle Server....
I used "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle" as the porvider.....
    however...
    I got a Server: Msg 7391, Level 16, State1, Procudure balance, Line 5
The operation could not be performed because OLE DB Provider 'MSDAORA' was unable to begin a distributed transaction.
    I've check the document....
    MSDAORA DO support distributed transaction.....
Besides, I can access data in linked server via SQL Query Analyzer....
    What to do then??
Really bother me for couple of days...

Could someone please help me out??? >_<

    Thanks

I was using linked server to DB2 and it was impossible to use transactions - I guess you have the same situation. Provider does not support distributed transactions - just move logic to stored procedure without begin tran (or change logic of transactions - if it is possible) and hope for the best

just spoke with our oracle and udb/db2 folks and set up linked servers to both platforms, - no problem. i did get the same error on udb side only before my permission to update a table was properly set. after that, - everything flew in the right direction.

    ms_sql_dba,

Do you want to say that it is possible to use distributed transactions with DB2 and Oracle?
